What can you say about Festival Number 6? apart from it being a festival like no other and just generally being extremely special. Ow, and famously named after the 60's hit program the Prisoner made in Portmeirion.
This was the second year that I have had the pleasure of being asked to play at Festival No 6. All thanks to CEG, a collective of musicians hell bent on helping each other as well as other local artists gain musical support as well as slots on their stages. They also run their very own record label, CEG Records. Find it at www.cegrecords.com .
if your looking to submit music for future events then you can do so by e mailing ceg.cymru@gmail.com
Music for consideration for the label should be sent to cegrecords@outlook.com
This year CEG were back at Festival No6 in Portmeirion, running the CEG Woodcutters Stage on the Lost In The Woods trail. It was great to be asked to play along side some of the best up and coming artist from North Wales such as Sera (Singer/songstress who has graced the airwaves of 6 Music, Radio Wales and Radio 2 to name but a few and as well the former Catfish And The Bottlemen guitarist Billy Bibby and his band The Wry Smiles who played a blinding set to cap off the Saturday Night in the woods. That was not all, the whole weekend was filled with quality local artists, too many to name here but all completely amazing.
I was lucky enough to be able to camp up in the artist camping at the festival and get my van pretty close to the camp site, witch is always a massive bonus when you have so much glamping gear to haul into a field (I don't travel light any more). It would have taken me days going back and forth to the park and ride to collect everything but saying that, the transport laid on was fantastic and would be coming and going every 15 minuets so that was pretty super. Its also has a fantastically chilled atmosphere synonymous with all the great festivals where you can meet and hang out with some really cool friendly people, talk music, get drunk and eat basically whatever you want because your at a festival and there is like a hundred food stalls. And if that’s not enough then you can take a walk around the famous Italian built Portmeirion village which is also incorporated into the festival with much happening over the weekend from guest speakers to orchestras and choir.
All in all if your thinking of going then just do it, its a one of a kind festival.
PS, Don't forget to check out the woods!
