When a listener can read along with the lyrics, she’s less likely to skip around from song to song, artist to artist.
Listeners slow down.
And they form a deeper connection with the music.
With the transition from CDs to streaming, what we’ve gained in convenience we’ve lost in immersion. Lyrics, artwork, and CD booklets have taken a back seat to digital menus and skip buttons.
DistroKid’s goal is to help our artists form stronger bonds with their listeners. One step toward this, is to help our artists get their lyrics into streaming apps.
Beginning today, all DistroKid artists can get lyrics into stores.
None of our competitors offer this service. We’re proud to make it available today — for free — to all DistroKid artists.
To get your lyrics into stores, sign into DistroKid and go to “Settings” → “Lyrics.”
Once you submit your lyrics, it takes about 1–2 days for them to show up in stores. iTunes & Apple Music to start.
Thanks for reading and please enjoy the new service.

Unrelated #2: Say hi to the latest DistroKid artist, Parliament. They’re legends, we’re fans, and we’re pretty psyched about it. Parliament just released their first studio recording in 38 years through DistroKid. It’s called “I’m Gon Make U Sick O’Me” and you can find it here.
