About a year ago I tried registering the “DistroKid” username on Instagram.
To my dismay, someone had already registered it. They weren’t using it, and I had no way of getting in contact with them.
I tried going through various official Instagram channels to claim the name, to no avail. Finally I posted on my Facebook a plea for help. To my surprise, someone from Instagram saw my FB post and… we got the name! (I would tell you who, but then he may get inundated with “hey can you help me out, too?” emails — so I’ll spare him. But you know who who are. Thank you!).
For now I’m just posting short videos where I talk about DistroKid and, eventually, other music biz things.
